Many people ask what exercises they should do to lose fat. When I tell them to do a difficult or heavy exercise they want another alterntive. “I can’t do that… It’s too hard!”. Ok. Then start slow and build your way up to being able to do that exercise. Nobody lose weight without effort. I was watching an ab-belt commercial today. No wonder they sell like hotcakes.
The promise of not having to work, AT ALL, or watch TV and lose fat, wow! And there seemed to be a never ending string of people who had lost weight without doing the work. It’s sad to see really. Losing fat takes work. It takes focus and effort. It’s not an overnight phenomenon. You can’t just ask what magic exercise you should do, or magic food, or pill. It’s a combined effort of healthy dieting, smart strength training and cardio training. PERIOD.
Some exercises are better than others, sure, but you still need to do them 2-3 times per week for 12-26 weeks. No magic exercise will work if you do it once or twice. None. No pill will work if you do not move and eat right, they may however speed up the rate at which diet and exercise produce results. But on their own, they are useless.
It’s no wonder people want the magic pill, magic workout, magic diet that will make them lose fat without effort. Marketing says we can. It’s not true! It will take more than that. To lose fat you need full dedication to the task at hand. Be prepared to sweat in the gym or at home. Be prepared for muscles to be tired. Be prepared to push beyond where you have ever been before.
